Update – 17/03/2020

Dear Parents/Carers,

Owing to the continued risks associated with the spread of COVID-19 and advised social distancing/non-essential contact, the following events will no longer take place – unless guidance is amended:

– All after school clubs will stop with immediate effect (parents/carers of children with a club due to take place after school today, will be contacted by phone to ensure this information is received).  We will notify you when the aforementioned clubs resume.  Run a Mile club will still take place on a Tuesday and Thursday morning.

– The Easter and Commissioning Services.

I would also like to inform you of some wonderful news; Mrs. Holmes is expecting her first child in September.  It goes without saying, that this is a very exciting time for Mrs. Holmes and her husband.  However, following guidance relating to pregnant women, Mrs. Holmes will not be in school until the current situation changes.  We will be advertising for a maternity position in due course, and will obviously keep you up to date with this process.

I am also aware that both children and parents/carers, are concerned about our upcoming residential.  I am in regular communication with Kingswood and will notify you of any changes as soon as possible.

A summary of the position from our Director of Public Health, Sharon Stoltz, is: “In brief the public health advice is that if one person in a family develops symptoms of a new persistent cough and high temperature the whole family have to go into isolation for 14 days. People are allowed to go out for fresh air and exercise but they are not to come into contact with other people so should avoid public spaces.

Community testing isn’t being done so people won’t be confirmed as positive or negative anymore – if anyone develops symptoms they are assumed positive and need to self-isolate.

Anyone with a chronic health condition affecting the heart or lungs, pregnant women and possibly people with neurological problems are thought to be at greater risk of becoming more seriously ill with the virus. Therefore need to take more care.”

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Andrew Buttery
