I am pleased to be able to pass on the following details regarding our eagerly awaited approach to Christmas. As you will see, the majority of events will have additional details made available over the coming weeks. Please note that these dates could be subject to change – information on any amendments will be shared as soon as possible…
Friday 28th November – Christmas Craft Day. Children throughout school to make decorations for our Christmas Tree.
Carols around the Tree – You are welcome to join us at 10am on Monday 1st December. Each class will enter the hall and place their handmade decoration on our tree. We will then sing a number of carols, which you will be more welcome to join in with.
Christmas Post – Children are welcome to bring Christmas Cards into School from Monday 1st December. Could you please ensure that envelopes clearly show the recipient’s full name and class; this will help us to deliver cards efficiently. Our postal service will close on Wednesday 10th December.
Monday 9th December – YoYo ‘It’s Your Christmas’
Monday 8th December – Nativity Performance for the school and Elvington Under Fives & Little Green Rascals.
Tuesday 9th December – Afternoon (2pm-3pm) Nativity Performance for parents/carers/relatives.
Wednesday 10th December – Evening (6pm-7pm) Nativity Performance for parents/carers/relatives.
Riding Lights Christmas Performance – I would like to thank Elvington’s PTA for kindly covering the cost of this performance on Monday 15th December.
Christmas Lunch – On Tuesday 16th December our kitchen team will be cooking a Christmas lunch for the children to enjoy. This will also be Christmas Jumper Day and children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper. Children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper (or a bright coloured/sparkly top). Apart from the aforementioned, children should wear normal school uniform. There will be no donations collected within school, however, those of you wishing to make a donation could visit www.christmasjumperday.org.
Elvington’s Christmas Service at Holy Trinity Church – You are welcome to join us at 9:45am for our Christmas Service on Wednesday 17th December.
PTA Christmas Disco – This event will take place in the School Hall on Wednesday 17th December; more details to follow…
Christmas Parties – On Thursday 18th December, the children are invited to come to school wearing party clothes or Christmas jumpers. They will have party games and other fun activities – in a bid to reduce the sharing of food (allergies), we ask that each child bring their own personal party plate. Perhaps a plastic or paper plate (ideally recyclable or reusable) containing a small savoury snack and a sweet treat, or piece of fruit along with a drink (not fizzy). Please remember we are a nut free school.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Andrew Buttery
