As a voluntary controlled school, our admissions arrangements are set by City of York Council, as the admissions authority for our school. Details of the admissions policies and a range of related information that applies can be found here.

Will your child start reception in September 2024?

You should apply for your child to start primary or infant school in the school year your child turns 4 so for entry into Reception in the September 2024 school year, children will have been born between 1st September 2019 and 31st August 2020.

Applications for children who were born between 1st September 2020 and 31st August 2021, who will start Reception in September 2025, cannot be made until the Autumn of 2024.

From 12th September 2023, online applications were open at www.york.gov.uk/schooladmissions. With an online application you will receive an email confirming submission of your application and the ability to view your application and results online at a later date. If you can’t apply online you can request a paper Primary Application Form by calling 01904 551554.

Please note that applying early does not give any priority, although to have the best chance of your application being successful you should complete and submit your application by the deadline which is the 15th January 2024.

Late applications can still be made after this date although your application may be dealt with after all the other applications that were received on or before the application deadline which means you will stand less chance of getting your preferred school.

When applying online, please remember to ‘submit’ your application by the deadline of 15th January 2024. If applying by completing a Primary Application Form please ensure you complete and return the form by this date. National Offer Day, when families are informed where their child has been allocated a place, is in April; those applicants that applied online were sent emails from around 10am on National Offer Day and other applicants will were sent allocation letters in the post.

16th April 2024 or the next working day – National Offer Day
17th May 2024 – Appeal forms to be returned
June-July 2024 – Admission appeals heard
September 2024 – Applications for the 2025 entry into Reception expected to open

Admissions Arrangements Consultation 2025-2026

In line with the School Admissions Code 2021, City of York Council hold a coordinated admission consultation on behalf of schools within York and the School Admission Authorities. Where a school is part of a Multi Academy Trust, the Trust is the Admission Authority and not City of York Council.
